During the week of April 20th, BES Climate and Culture students, along with Mrs. Pelosi's class and Mrs. Warnkin (a retired BES teacher), collected new or gently used children’s books. These books will be donated to the Bridges of Books Foundation.
The Bridges of Books Foundation is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization whose mission is to provide an ongoing source of books to underserved children across New Jersey. Their work supports the development of literacy skills and encourages a lifelong love of reading.
Our student Climate and Culture Committee and Mrs. Warnkin were responsible for collecting the books, while Mrs. Pelosi's class organized, counted, and boxed them. All involved then carried the boxes to the van, and Mr. and Mrs. Warnkin delivered them to the Bridges of Books Foundation. We collected 1,760 books!!!
We thank our wonderful community for donating to this service project and for supporting children’s literacy! A special thank you to Mrs. Pelosi's Rock-Star class for all the work they put into this.
ALL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE BOOKS TO CALL THEIR OWN.
