As you are all aware, the New Jersey Department of Education, along with the State Board of Education, has placed an emphasis on local school districts to take steps to increase student attendance. You have previously received notice about this and Blairstown Elementary School’s efforts in this regard, for we certainly want our students to attend school every day.
However, it is not in a child’s best interest to send him or her to school if they display signs of illness. Please use your utmost judgment as to whether your child should attend school if they are ill. With the various virus outbreaks being reported around the country, and the onset of flu season, we want to do everything we can to insure the health and safety of all our young learners. Remember to send in a note when your child returns to school, indicating the specific reason for the absence.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this most important issue.
