Also, students wrote letters and made 200 cards thanking the veterans for their service. These cards will be sent to New Jersey Veterans’ hospitals and our local homeless veterans.

The Blue Star Mothers Group

The Blue Star Mothers Group is a local support group for mothers with children currently serving in the Armed Forces.  Many families in this group have children who graduated from Blairstown Elementary School. Due to what is happening overseas, many of those active duty military personnel will not be home for the holidays.  The Blue Star Mothers Group asked the Student Climate and Culture Committee to compose letters, cards, and/or pictures, so the troops can hang them in their barracks. The Student C&C certainly got to work right away, and then asked if any teachers would be able to do this in their classes as well.  The outcome - over 700 LETTERS, CARDS, AND PICTURES were created and will be mailed to our active duty troops overseas. Talk about a school coming together to spread kindness, smiles, love, and appreciation! The picture above shows some of the letters and cards that were created by our BES students.  Thank you to our staff for being so supportive to our troops and their families!
