Supervisor of Special Services - Dr. Brian James

The 2021-22 school year will mark my first at Blairstown Elementary School.  I count myself very fortunate to work in such a welcoming and inclusive school community.  As the Supervisor of Special Services, I work closely with teachers, the Child Study Team, families and students to create a positive and rewarding school experience.

Before coming to Blairstown, I served in Parsippany as the Lead Teacher of Special Education, and served in an administrative capacity as the district's Extended School Year Coordinator.  Additionally, I had sixteen years of teaching experience, primarily in specialized programs for students with disabilities.

I earned my Doctorate at Centenary University, where the focus of my work related to Special Education Leadership.  Additionally,

I earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Montclair State, as well as a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College.  As an undergraduate, I majored in History at Montclair State.

My family and I live in Parsippany, and we enjoy exploring all of the cultural and recreational activities that New Jersey has to offer.

I look forward to partnering with you and working to help your children reach their goals. If you have any questions about our special education programs or processes, do not hesitate to contact me.  My phone number is 908-362-6111 ext. 109.
