Dr. Susie Elias
I am very excited to begin my role as Principal of Blairstown Elementary School for the 2019-2020 school year. I joined BES in 2010 as a 5th grade teacher having previously taught middle school Language Arts in Morris County. Throughout my time as an educator, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students of varying levels and needs. This ranges from special needs students in a home-based program to students at the honors level in the middle school setting. All of my students have a special place in my heart and continue to motivate me to create the best learning experience for all students at Blairstown Elementary School.
In 2012, I moved into an administrative role and have been the Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction since that time. As Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction, I wore many different hats; however, the basis of my job was to work in collaboration with the staff to make sure we’re doing what’s best for our students. This includes providing staff with professional development, working with teachers to create and develop our curriculum, and researching best practices to implement in the classroom. In an effort to save school funds, I will be maintaining these responsibilities as I take on the role of Principal.
In my personal life, I am a wife and a mother to two daughters. I am a lifelong learner and have a doctorate in K-12 Administration from Seton Hall University. My other degrees include Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education and Psychology, a Masters in Reading, and an Educational Specialist degree in K-12 Administration. Working at Blairstown Elementary School has been an amazing experience, and I look forward to another year with our fantastic staff, students, parents, and community.
