OUR MATH PROGRAM

            We are now using the Everyday Mathematics program school wide. Math classes are not grouped by ability and the class size is around 20 students. This program utilizes a “spiral” curriculum, which means that students are repeatedly exposed to concepts throughout their school years. This gives your child many opportunities to grasp a concept before mastery is expected. There will be concepts that are only introduced in 3rd grade in which mastery is not expected until 4th grade or later. Remember that when your child is facing a difficult math homework page or concept.  If it is frustrating or hard, it may be a concept that he or she is being exposed to this year, and will grasp more easily next or even the following year.
