Emphasis on Communication

       Throughout the Everyday Mathematics curriculum students are encouraged to explain and discuss their mathematical thinking, in their own words and in writing. Opportunities to verbalize their thoughts and strategies give children the chance to clarify their thinking and gain insights from others are shared daily.  We love when children think of a new way to find an outcome.  It’s exhilarating to watch the students teach others their new idea!
